ADRA Home Runs - From your front door to the world

Well it’s almost a wrap for 2020, and what a wild rollercoaster it has been. I hope you’ve navigated your way through it safely and managed to end it on a positive note.

This year has meant major changes to every part of our lives, and so I thought I’d share some work we did for a great cause to reshape the way they raised money.

The event is the annual ADRA Fun Run, which raises money for the livelihoods, health and education of Kiwis, and people in developing countries. Each year volunteers gather support from sponsors, and run a set course along the Auckland Waterfront. Making this happen takes enormous planning and certainty – the very things we didn’t have during 2020’s ever-changing alert levels. And so we helped ADRA take a whole new direction.

2020 had become all about ‘life at home’ – making the most of our time in our bubble. It was about being grateful we live in a place that is fortunate enough to have greater freedoms. So our focus for this new campaign was ‘HOME’.

ADRA HOME RUNS, made our homes the centre of attention; here is where volunteers’ courses began and finished. It meant participants could be flexible with their time, their course, and could social distance should they have to.

We created a fresh and fun visual identity to capture the spirit of community and positivity.

We rolled out a campaign that made making a difference seem very achievable from our bubbles. And to connect Kiwi families to those in need around the world, we also changed the focus of our fundraising - from individuals in need, to families.

ADRA Fun Run

The event was an incredible success. Despite the changing alert levels and uncertainty, Kiwis embraced the ADRA Home Runs challenge with over 2,888 kms clocked up around the neighbourhoods of New Zealand, and over $27,091 raised for families in need. It was an incredibly satisfying project for Mágico to be a part of.

Well, I’m sure this has left you with some warm fuzzies to end 2020. I hope you have a safe and Merry Christmas and an amazing year ahead. Thank you for all your support and I look forward to seeing you soon.
